Named For Lakewood

Lakewood, Ohio

Beach Avenue

LikelyFounding families and early settlers

Evidently named for Henry Beach, a fruit grower who came to Lakewood in 1864 and whose large house stood on Detroit at Beach; the entry does not literally say 'named for'.

Beach, said to be the first white child born in Elyria Township, came with wife Sabrina Frost and five-year-old daughter Emma. His house grew to seventeen rooms and was heated with gas found on his land. He built the ten-suite Beach Terrace, supplied with heat and light by three gas wells.
