Lark Street

VerifiedNature and trees

One of five streets named for birds in the Pleasant Hill Allotment, built for National Carbon Company's European-born workers.

Streets cut through the Pleasant Hill Allotment, which National Carbon Company bought from the Case estate about 1892 to house its European-born workers; someone chose bird names for the streets. The immigrant families kept their languages and founded Polish, Slovak and Ukrainian churches.
