Named For Lakewood

Lakewood, Ohio

Morrison Avenue

LikelyFounding families and early settlers

Named for a grandson of Adam Wagar (joint entry covering four streets south of Madison).

Adam Wagar, eldest son of Mars Wagar, owned a large tract near Madison and Hilliard, with a well-known house on Hilliard facing Westwood. He was the only Wagar active in politics (township clerk/trustee 1862-1879, school board 1872) but mostly farmed fruit and grapes. He and wife Margaret Kyle, from Scotland, had five daughters. As farming faded he joined his brothers in real estate, subdividing the farm. The extension of Woodward was once called Kyle Avenue.
