Named for Virginia ('Jennie'), the adopted daughter of Rosetta and Collins French and Rosetta's niece.

The Frenches had no children; Virginia lost her mother at nine months. She grew into a renowned hostess who sent no guest away without tea, fruit or flowers. The book says she would barely have recognized Virginia Avenue as named for her.
