Lakewood, Ohio
Waterbury Road
Named for Waterbury, Connecticut, birthplace of Betsey Bartholomew Nicholson, wife of James Nicholson.
James met and courted her in Connecticut (place printed as Conneaut) and they married May 5, 1812; they moved to Lakewood (then Rockport) six years later. They had seven children, three died young. She spent her later years whittling wooden models with youngest son Ezra. Her spinning wheel, seven chairs, a stand and a large wooden bowl made by James are kept in the Stone House in Lakewood Park.
