What we know
Created when Solon Colohan, a truck farmer, allotted 14 acres near Detroit and West Clifton and gave the street its name; the book does not say who Wayne honors.
Solon's father James Colohan, carpenter and truck farmer, came about 1850. Wayne Avenue has held a July Fourth celebration since 1915 and is closed to traffic for it.
