Winton Avenue
Named for Alexander Winton, bicycle and automobile pioneer who lived in a yellow brick mansion on Lake Avenue near Nicholson.
In 1890 he and two friends opened a bicycle shop making fifty cycles a month, then built a one-cylinder gasoline carriage with seats for six, sold his first practical auto in 1898, and took part in early tours and races. The book links him with Ford, Duryea, Haynes and Olds.
